Song of the Week: “Love Myself” by Olivia O’Brien

Olivia O’Brien’s “Love Myself” is a stand-out anthemic ballad about teen angst and self-love.

In “Love Myself” O’Brien exposes her insecurities and anxiety for the world to hear, exclaiming that she needs to focus on self-discovery and self-love first and foremost in her life. At 19 years-old, there are a lot of questions about your identity left yet-unanswered, and O’Brien is impressively able to those emotions and experiences into a globally relatable song about teen angst that demonstrates wisdom beyond her years.

The purple-haired songstress has found early-yet-widespread success with her music across the entire soundscape of the industry, refusing to allow anyone to put her neatly into a bucketed genre. She’s collaborated with everyone from gnash, to G-Eazy and Drew Love (THEY.), and has racked up over 1 billion streams globally in her young career.
